At the restaurant in Fort Frances, there was a band playing cover songs. One song spoke to us and our adventure: "Life is a Highway".
The Gals
Welcome to our blog!
We are three young women embarking on a cross Canada cycling trip! We will be starting May 5th from Victoria, B.C, making our way
East to St John’s, Newfoundland, spanning over >7000km. We are planning to stay mostly in campsites, but will indulge now and then in a roof over our heads (be it a hotel/motel/holiday inn, friends/family, or couchsurfing/warm showers). We will be carrying all our gear on our bikes, including tents and camping equipment.
This is by faaaar our biggest cycling adventure yet, and, after a LOT of planning and practice, we are so excited to get rolling!
Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments, and please check out our fundraising pages along the side bar!
Thank you!

Day 52: (June 25) Caliper Lake PP to Fort Frances 92.9km
There had been some bad rain overnight, and it was supposed to thunderstorm later in the day. We decided to make a move and keep going as to not waste the day. For most of the day we cycled through that type of tropical humidity that made you know a big storm was coming. We stopped for lunch in Emo, Ontario, where we could see black rain clouds in the distance. There was no thunder, and so we continued on our way after lunch. About 10km into our ride, the thunder started, first far away, and then came closer. We knocked on the door of a man named Bob, a retired man who used to work as a banker on Bay Street in Toronto, and traded it in to have a cattle ranch in northern Ontario. We sought refuge in Bob's garage just at the perfect time, when the thunderstorm hit, with a torrential downpour. We were very lucky to be under a shelter. Once the rain subsided, we headed back on the road. We spent the night Fort Frances, a city that sits on the border to the US. We needed to make it there as tomorrow we had a long distance to travel with very little en route. We stayed at the Super 8, so we would have to pack up in the morning and could get an early start.
