We had a late start to the day. We find it hard to leave a home when we've stayed a few days and settled in.
We rode along a bike path leaving Winnipeg, where we then connected back into highway 1.
Soon outside of Winnipeg we reached the longitudinal centre of Canada! Not our halfway mark, but still an exciting point to arrive at! The shoulder was pretty good in the morning.
We stopped for lunch in cute town of Richer, where there was a fruit stand.
After lunch the shoulder abruptly changed to gravel, though they are currently doing construction, so hopefully this will improve. In the late afternoon we had our first experience with the enormous swarming flies found in this area.
We were eager to connect with Andrei, our host from Winnipeg for dinner. Andrei drove out to meet us off the highway in an town called Hadashville. We had dinner at Sophie's Ukranian Restaurant, which was delicious, and set up camp for the night at Whitemouth River campground.
