The Gals

Welcome to our blog!

We are three young women embarking on a cross Canada cycling trip! We will be starting May 5th from Victoria, B.C, making our way

East to St John’s, Newfoundland, spanning over >7000km. We are planning to stay mostly in campsites, but will indulge now and then in a roof over our heads (be it a hotel/motel/holiday inn, friends/family, or couchsurfing/warm showers). We will be carrying all our gear on our bikes, including tents and camping equipment.

This is by faaaar our biggest cycling adventure yet, and, after a LOT of planning and practice, we are so excited to get rolling!

Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments, and please check out our fundraising pages along the side bar!

Thank you!

Day 56: (June 29) Kakabeka Falls to Thunder Bay 37.7km

We started our day by checking out the beautiful Kakabeka Falls, just inside the provincial park.
After our scenic morning, we had a short and enjoyable ride to Thunder Bay. Just in the town of Kakabeka falls, there is Oliver Road, which is a pleasant alternative to the main road into Thunder Bay.
After rolling into town we met with Julia, an old friend of Claire's from university, and her roommate Emily. We were lucky enough to be in town on Julia's sailing day! We went onto the boat, but unfortunately another storm broke out (thunder in Thunder Bay). We had some beers and met Julia's sailng friends. The sailing crew invited us to their party on the pier, where they gave us food and drinks, and needless to say were incredibly welcoming. After the pier we went to see Ben Caplan perform downtown. We had a blast!
